HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BRADY!!!!

Brady is 3 today!  We are doing good this week.  Not much to report other than trying to be normal.  The 2 days after his antibody finished he was a little crabby, but that was expected.  We made it home Saturday evening and will go back the 25th of July for 2 weeks.  We have clinic visits weekly while we are home for lab checks.  Continue prayers please!

Good morning everyone!  Today is a big day!  This is day +100 post transplant.  It has already been 100 days.  This is a big milestone after a transplant.  It is an even bigger deal for kids with a donor but none the less, still important.

Brady is doing well.  He is still eating good and sticking to the cinnamon rolls (with icing)!  He goes through a gallon of milk fast!!  We have a clinic visit tomorrow and get the next med for this treatment started.  I'm interested to see what he weighs since he is eating and drinking so much!  If he eats this good here, wonder if he will eat even better at home??..??  We shall see.  Our plan is, if all goes well, to be moving out of our apartment and back home the weekend of the 12th and 13th of June.  Brady isn't done with treatment, but we only have to be here every 2 to 3 weeks so we are going to drive back and forth.  I didn't think this was an option but his doctor says that he suggests that to families doing this treatment since we don't need to be here in between ICU stays.  Brady will be happy!  My dad is coming next weekend and will be with us for our ICU stay the week of the 7th and then we will pack up and head out as long as there are no problems with Brady!  Thanks to everyone for checking up on us and praying!!  It really means alot to our family!

Woohoo! Shots are done for about a month!  Brady has had to have a daily shot for 2 weeks now.  Bless his heart, I think he was getting used to it although he hadn't accepted it.  He went from saying "I don't want a shot and a bandaid" to " I don't want a bandaid" .  He doens't like bandaids for some reason.  Now if I could get him to halfway accept that he has to take medicine we will be doing good.  The medicine he is taking now is a capsule that I have to poke a hole in with a needle and then squeeze the liquid out of and mix in something.  I mix it in melted butter with brown sugar in it.  I mean really, you can't get much better than that.  The only problem is I need to put it in very little volume because it is so hard to get him to take anything so the less the better and I believe he tastes the bitterness even with all the sweet.  Sometimes I end up with my legs wrapped around his arms so that I can get it in his mouth.  It's a challenge!

Brady is eating better.  He loves Trix cereal and cinnamon rolls now, with icing of course!  He is also back on a meatball kick.  He had gained a little weight today since he was weighed on Monday so that is good!

We only had 2 quick appointments today and will have a clinic visit early tomorrow morning.  We have another dinner to go to tonight at Target House 2.  I will update soon.

Hello all!  Brady is doing well.  He was discharged from the hospital on Friday afternoon.  It would have been earlier but he got blood.  That was almost strange because it had been almost 2 months since he had to get red blood.  He has been a little clingy and not feeling the best but the shot he has to get makes him feel a little achy.  He has to get the shot for 2 weeks but only has 3 more days for this round of shots!!! He has felt better today and has eaten more today than he had this weekend!!

Tonight was supposed to be craft night but it was cancelled.  I had already told Brady about it so we went to the craft room and found something to get in to.  Of course, we ended up painting.  He had a great time though!!  They have a very nice craft room!  There are a few dinners a.k.a. "parties" (as Brady calls them) this week.  There are so many good people who volunteer their time and money to provide some wonderful dinners for families to get together at the Target House.  We will probably go to a couple of them.

Tomorrow Brady starts the oral med for this treatment.  Like I said earlier, he has almost finished the first round of shots which is nice because he, of course, he doesn't like it at all!!  I'm sure he won't like this oral med either though!!  Should be interesting.  There is no reasoning with him.  He's just a little to young to listen to that and understand that we need to take it!!  So we do the wrestling to get it down but we manage and get it eventually!

I really appreciate all the thoughts regarding my "Mammy"!  She was a special lady!!  Her funeral was today and I wish so bad that I could have been there to honor her!!  I know she understands.  I heard there were many people that came from Kingsport.  We really appreciate that.  Jarred and his dad drove down for the day.  I'm glad he was able to go and that his dad went with him since he did a day trip!

Thanks so much for checking up on us.  The notes in the guestbook are so nice to read!!  Remember all the other families that are in this as well!!
